Head and Neck Oncosurgery

Home / Head and Neck Oncosurgery

Head and Neck Oncosurgery is a specialized field of surgical care focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cancers affecting the head and neck region. These may include cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box, nose, sinuses, salivary glands, thyroid, and other related structures. Treatment is planned according to the type, location, size, and stage of the tumour, along with the individual patient’s overall health and needs. Surgical procedures may involve removal of the tumour and, when necessary, affected lymph nodes in the neck. Whenever possible, treatment focuses on achieving effective cancer control while preserving important functions such as speech, swallowing, breathing, and appearance. Depending on the condition, surgery may be combined with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or other treatments as part of a multidisciplinary approach. Early evaluation of persistent symptoms such as a neck lump, non-healing mouth ulcer, difficulty swallowing, voice changes, or unexplained throat discomfort is important for timely diagnosis and treatment.
